COLDFIRE you're broken, so am ii ii'm better off alone no one to turn to and nothing to call my own
Inquisitive orange and black ears twitched, the tips coming closer together, then growing farther apart a couple times in rapid succession, something that could have been considered un-catlike. The small, feline head poked up and out of the tunnel entrance, hidden behind a small, sparse bush and she peered into the camp of the Forgotten, the ones she spied on constantly these days. She couldn't help it. She was so intrigued by how they managed to survive so long with so little. They fought, more than some rogues, even, but yet they worked together. They had to, or they would die.
Her golden eyes blinked, wide with curiosity as she watched the cats coming and going, hissing, growling, comforting each other, plotting and planning. She knew she shouldn't be here, but she couldn't help herself. She felt so strongly for this, this wanting to help them. She wasn't sure why. She was so focused on watching, she didn't even pay attention to her surroundings. That would be a mistake, especially here.

You get what you give. It was an old saying, one that was often used to scold kits that tried to use claws or spewed hateful words at other kits. But nobody here believed it. What had they done to deserve such a hopeless life? Told the truth. Honesty was a trait of a warrior, at least in the "true" Clans. But when the honesty was on a touchy subject, you had better hope it's what they want to hear, otherwise your honesty becomes lies.
They had not wanted to hear it.
These were the sort of thoughts that plagued Rowanmoon as she stretched and got up from her position towards the center of camp. There was a fresh scratch on her muzzle for it, but it was already healing, and the first comfortable rest in a little over a moon was well worth it. The leader drew her tongue over her pelt in various places a few times before heading for the tunnels. Today she would attempt to catch something for her Clan. Even if it was a withered old mouse, she refused to return without some creature dead in her jaws.
In fact, she scented something alive in the very tunnel she wished to enter. But it was nothing they could eat, it was a cat. A foreign cat.
"Come out!
she hissed. "I know you're there!" The tunnels were no place for a fight, certainly, but out in the open would suite her just fine. She had enough trouble trying to keep her Clan from starving to death, the last thing she needed was a loner or rogue mooching off of what little they had.

She very nearly jumped high enough to smack her head on the top of the tunnel, after having withdrawn inside upon seeing the other cat coming nearer. However, she was hardly afraid. Just startled. There was no need to be afraid when you didn't quite care what happened to you. So, rather than crouch there and hope the other cat went away, she crept out to face her 'opponent'. She'd rather not fight, she wasn't really in the mood, but she would if she had to.
She didn't say anything, preferring to wait for a reaction from older feline. She was careful enough to not appear like she was about to attack, but other than that, she wasn't to picky on how she appeared. Her tail went straight down toward the ground, the tip curling to lay the last bit on the dirt. Her white paws were stained with brown from her journey through the tunnels, she hadn't bother to lick them clean yet. Her golden eyes stared intently at Rowanmoon, not afraid to meet another cat's gaze, but it was hardly an intense stare. She was simply curious, and it read in every little movement she was making as she came out, and then simply stood there.

Rowanmoon was almost relieved to find that the cat who came out seemed more curious than hostile. There would probably be no issues here. "Are you aware that this territory has been claimed?" she inquired, lessening the harshness in her tone. It was unavoidable that she would speak with the slightest bit of belligerence, considering that this cat's curiosity did not make her any more welcome. Rowanmoon's policy was that any cat with no purpose on her Clan's land should leave. She didn't trust them at all.
However, it could have been that this cat was unaware that the land was taken and was drawn in by the scent of many cats. If that was the case, a simple explanation would suffice. There had been no rogues or loners here to help her Clan, not since Emberheart...but now was not the time to think of that. She was supposed to be the leader, after all. She straightened up a bit as she waited for the younger cat's response.

I'm aware.
She replied, voice soft, though it hardly seemed so. It was fairly quiet, except for the occasional screech of annoyance or pain from the collective of cats in the background.
I have been for the past few moons. Ever since I stumbled upon the tunnels. Learning the stories were true... I just couldn't stop from watching. The clans know nothing of you, though, not from me, I promise.
She managed to keep her voice steady, though the more she spoke, the more she was almost certain she may get attacked. It made steadiness difficult, as she forced her body to stop from visibly shaking. She was still young, still unsure about many things. She also knew she likely didn't have enough experience to survive, of this cat decided she was too much of a threat.

This cat would probably go along with whatever she said. That fact alone made this situation a lot easier. She could just tell the other cat to get out and go on with her day, but she was curious now. A loner had been watching them. But why? Who would bother to watch the struggles of a Clan forgotten by their brethren? This strange young cat seemed so honest and pure it made Rowanmoon want her to leave before the horrors of starvation could taint her.
But this cat was nameless in her mind. She had to at least have some form of identification i her memory to distinguish her from other random loners. "What is your name? There's no need for fear, I'm not going to hurt you unless you give me a reason to."
The leader didn't even bother asking if the younger cat had stolen prey, feeling certain the answer would be "no." And if it wasn't, maybe guilt would drive her to confess.
This was much better treatment than she usually gave to outsiders, but she couldn't help but notice that this cat looked almost exactly like how one of her kits might have grown up.

She noticed the other cat softening, not quite as harsh as when she first scented her, and Coldfire allowed herself to relax a bit. Not enough that she would be caught off-guard by anything, but enough that it was visible.
Coldfire.
She knew she should also tell of how she had been born a clan cat, for it was certainly something the other cat should know, but she couldn't bring herself to tell. It had been something she was ashamed of after she had found that the Forgotten were real, not just a story. She'd rather avoid that topic of conversation if she could, but, then again, her name was a clan name, one that could just as easily give her away. She was so busy worrying about how the she-cat would react to the truth of her lineage, she didn't even realize she didn't know her name.
